Our founder, John F. Burns, CPC, CPC-I, RMC, has provided countless clients with the tools required to operate successful and profitable medical businesses. John, a native of Rome, New York, earned his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Health Science from the State University of New York at Cortland in 1995. He served as a Senior Consultant with The Medical Management Institute (Atlanta, GA) from 1996-2003 during which time he conducted more than 750 specialty training/education seminars and workshops geared to effectively educate providers/staff and manage healthcare compliance. Since 2004, John has conducted innumerable training and education programs geared to assist the medical business community regarding coding competence, Medicare compliance, coding certification and audit assistance. His experience varies widely and he has assisted a myriad of medical specialties including Primary Care, Internal Medicine, Orthopedics, Oncology, Ophthalmology, OB/GYN, Psychiatry and Mental Health, Anesthesia and Pain Management, Radiology, Gastroenterology and Organ Transplant. John has served as a Compliance Officer and has conducted more than 700 different consulting assignments including medical record compliance audits, negotiating managed care contracts, developing OIG compliance plans, creating and restructuring practice fee schedules and offering specialized medical provider and staff training. John now serves as the President of Modern Conventions in Compliance, Inc. and is based in the Saratoga Springs, New York area where he resides with his wife, Amy and daughter, Addison. He is a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and the Association of Registered Health Care Professionals. John is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), a Professional Medical Coding Curriculum approved Instructor (PMCC and CPC-I), and a Registered Medical Coder (RMC). He has been published in various medical references and journals ranging from Cardiology Coding Alert to Coding and Medicare Updates. |
